| May/Jun 2006 - 11 Things Taxi Drivers need to know about the new Domestic Rank |
1. There is only one rank with 10 marked bays.
2. The rank supervisor will stand approximately in the middle of the rank.
3. Drivers can queue in front of the terminal but can not pick up unless in the marked rank area.
4. Drivers must always stay in their vehicles once they have left the feeder area.
5. Drivers are not to block the road between the feeder and the start of the terminal road.
6. The new sign at the feeder is to call up more taxis, special needs taxis or maxi taxis.
7. If a special needs or maxi taxi is called for, the driver can access the rank using the normal exit or the new exit lane in the left hand corner of the feeder.
8. If a taxi is called to a job away from the feeder the driver can use the new exit lane to access Erica Court and go to their booking.
9. Drivers will now stop in front of the new sign and await call up.
10. Payment of the taxi exit fee is at the end of the terminal road, payment is by transponder or cash in the machine.
11. Scheduled bus services are the only other user of the face road besides taxis. These buses will need access through the roadway discussed above.
