The Black & White Cabs School Transport Department was created to manage the contract for transporting eligible students to and from schools and respite centres. The department and the work carried out under this contract is often referred to as "Groups" which probably relates to the fact that many of the clients who are transported under this contract are transported in groups of two or more.
The children who are transported under this contract have various disabilities ranging from intellectual to physical and behavioural impairments. It is important drivers who undertake groups are aware that not only are they transporting children but are mindful of these disabilities, and act accordingly.
Transport is priced per kilometre, according to the contractual arrangement. Unlike regular work, Groups trips are run off the meter at a fixed price to set destinations.
Many drivers do regular daily or weekly Groups work and organise their day around it.
Unassigned Groups trips are advertised globally to suitably attributed cars and drivers, starting at 7.10 am in the morning and then again at 13.02 pm in the afternoon. Drivers can accept groups in advance of booking time, and fast meter them to continue to take work until the job is due. We ask that you set districts or be aware of the booking time and location so that you will be in the area in time for the job.
The advantage of this is that drivers can accept Groups jobs that will help them towards districts or changeover.
Please keep in mind the current and ongoing traffic problems within the greater Brisbane area, and allow time for delays.
We also advertise holding Groups work through the relevant channels and individual drivers who are nearby holding Groups work are asked through Yes/No messages if they will carry out this work.
Groups Drivers also have the advantage of specialised staff available to assist them. Simply advise the query operator that you require a call from us, or call us direct on 3860 1833.
Please note if you have a concern that is not urgent, we ask that you do not call us between 7am - 9am and 2pm - 3.30 pm as these are our peak times for dispatching groups work and we are very busy. However if the matter is urgent don't hesitate to call.
